Today begins the Season of Advent which ends on Christmas Eve, December 24 when the true Christmas Season begins. Advent is a time of preparation and waiting. We are waiting for the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. “Adventus” is the Latin for Advent, which means “coming” or “arrival”.

Many times during this season of Advent we get so caught up in the shopping, the Christmas parties, the presents, etc. that we forget the true meaning of this season. Like a mother and father, who is expectantly waiting for the coming of their baby with hope, love, and joy; so too should we be waiting for the coming of the child Jesus with bated breath.

So each day during this Season of Advent, let us give pause and reflect on Advent; its meaning; and how we can prepare ourselves and our families for the coming of the Christ Child and the Christmas Season. May God bless you and your family during this Season of Advent.

Pax et bonum,
Anthony “Tony Mangia” Scillia
