You can’t beat a good burger. It’s only food item that shouts Americana. And I’m a burger fan through & through. And one of the best burgers, namely sliders, in North Jersey is a little joint on River Street in Hackensack called White Manna Hamburgers.

We Three Kings: Celebrating the Feast of the Epiphany

The Three Kings: Joseph Cirillo as Melchior, Myself as Balthazar, & Joseph Lucia as Gaspar

The Three Kings: Joseph Cirillo as Melchior, Myself as Balthazar, & Joseph Lucia as Gaspar

We had an enjoyable time dressing up as the Three Kings/Wise Men on Tuesday evening for the Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord. I had the honor of being Balthazar. Joseph Cirillo, President of the Catholic Fellowship of NJ, was Melchior. And Joseph Lucia, a seminarian, was Gaspar. Nina Talao of the Catholic Fellowship was our costumer.  We gave out candy to the children and blessed incense and chalk (for blessing the house) to the adults.

Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord

IMG_3674
Today is the Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord. Many cultures celebrate today as “Little Christmas”. The day commemorates the revelation of Christ to the Gentiles, namely the Three Wise Men/Kings/Magi.

Each Wise Man brought a gift to the Christ Child. Gaspar (or Caspar), King of Sheba, represents the gift of Frankincense. Melchior, King of Arabia, represents the gift of Gold.
And Balthazar, King of Tarse and Egypt, represents the gift of Myrrh. The Biblical account of the Magi can be found in Matthew 2:1-12.
