Today marks the start of a new liturgical year, as well as the First Sunday of Advent. Advent is a beautiful time of the liturgical calendar when we prepare for the coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ at Christmas, but we are also preparing for his second coming in glory.
Albeit we do not know the day or the hour of Christ’s second coming, but we do not want to be caught off guard. Like Saint Paul write in his First Letter to the Thessalonians, “for you are well aware in any case that the Day of the Lord is going to come like a thief in the night.” (1 Thessalonians 5:2).
To get us into the spirit of Advent, take a listen to one of my favorite Advent songs, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” in Latin. Enjoy. Have a Blessed Advent.
