Happy New Year 2017 & a Blessed Feast of Mary, Mother of God!
I’ve been very, very lax in upkeeping this blog over the last year.  And for that I am regretful.  I am hoping in this new year to be more engaging on this blog.  Thank you.  And may God bless you today & always.

One Step at a Time: Finding my Faith through Infertility & Miscarriage

January 2, 2014 was one of the greatest days of my life. My wife and I found out that after four long years of struggling with infertility we were going to be parents. Unfortunately that joy quickly dissipated when by mid January we were told that our baby had an enlarged yolk sac. We were hopeful, but knew that the chances of our baby’s survival were slim.

My name is Anthony Scillia; but many people know me as Tony Mangia. I would like to take a moment to welcome you to my new blog. I’m not new to the blogosphere, per se. I was quite active a few years ago with a popular NYC based food blog.

About two years ago, I decided to take a much-needed break to refocus and re-center myself. During my hiatus, I renewed my passion & desire for my Roman Catholic faith, something that I neglected for quite a few years. I also lost a bit of weight, something I’ve struggled with for most of my adult life. But one thing I didn’t stop doing was eating. I continued dining out and discovering new restaurants this time mainly in my home state of New Jersey. In addition to looking for the newest place to eat; I also began a journey of a more religious nature. I started visiting Roman Catholic churches and pilgrimage destinations in the surrounding areas.

My goal with this blog is to bring you closer to your faith through my two passions which are my loves of the Roman Catholic faith & food. I plan I doing this through blogging about the places I eat, the places I visit, and the people I meet. This is a living breathing blog, and being alive I believe it will be ever-changing. So come along with me as we both fortify our souls & our bellies. May God bless you.

Pax et bonum,
Anthony “Tony Mangia” Scillia
